    Plates VII (Below)

Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 10:26 PM EST [General]

    Plates VII (Below)

Figure 30.--The Sixth Pentacle of Mars.--It hath so great virtue that being armed therewith, if thou art attacked by any one, thou shalt neither be injured nor wounded when thou fightest with him, and his own weapons shall turn against him.

Editor's Note.--Around the eight points of the radii of the Pentacle are the words 'Elohim qeber, Elohim hath covered (or protected),' written in the Secret Alphabet of Malachim, or the writing of the Angels. The versicle is from Psalm xxxvii. 15:--'Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bow shall be broken.'

    -----------------------

Figure 31.--The Seventh and last Pentacle of Mars.--Write thou this upon virgin parchment or paper with the blood of a bat, in the day and hour of Mars; and uncover it within the Circle, invoking the Demons whose Names are therein written; and thou shalt immediately see hail and tempest.

Editor's Note.--In the centre of the Pentacle are the Divine Names, El and Yiai, which have the same numerical value when written in Hebrew. The Letters in Hebrew, and in the Secret Alphabet called the Celestial, compose the Names of Spirits. Round the Pentacle is:--'He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land. He smote their vines also, and their fig-trees.'--Psalm cv. 32, 33.

    ---------------------

Figure 32.--The First Pentacle of the Sun.--The Countenance of Shaddaï the Almighty, at Whose aspect all creatures obey, and the Angelic Spirits do reverence on bended knees.

Editor's Note.--This singular Pentacle contains the head of the great Angel Methraton or Metatron, the vice-gerent and representative of Shaddaï, who is called the Prince of Countenances, and the right-hand masculine Cherub of the Ark, as Sandalphon is the left and feminine. On p. 73 , either side is the Name 'El Shaddaï.' Around is written in Latin:'Behold His face and form by Whom all things were made, and Whom all creatures obey.'

    ---------------------

Figure 33.--The Second Pentacle of the Sun.--This Pentacle, and the preceding and following, belong to the nature of the Sun. They serve to repress the pride and arrogance of the Solar Spirits, which are altogether proud and arrogant by their nature.

Editor's Note.--Mystical characters of the Sun and the Names of the Angels:--Shemeshiel, Paimoniah, Rekhodiah, and Malkhiel.

    The Ravens Call

    Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 09:20 PM [General]

This was inspired by Janices piece, Calling the Ravens.

From high on top a mountain's peak a castle stands alone.
An evil winged princess sits waiting on her throne.
Then just as the legend told came a prophesy fulfilled.
Defeated were the crystal guardians by warriors greatly skilled.
Delivered by her minions was an orb of awesome power.
She took her place to give the chant at the sacred hour.
Parting were the shielding clouds that were as dark as night.
By a force that emanated in a blinding light.
Goddess of nature and of man this she could foresee.
Calling to her subjects she gave her first decree.
"My children I now summon thee to do as I command.
As you have ruled the skies so to we shall the land.
The time has come to reap what earlier has been sown."
As the raven queen held high the glowing crystal stone.
"Who shall dare oppose us none will even try.
All shall cower on there knees fearing they may die.
Now go and do my bidding  spread fear to one and all."
Her wicked laugh was hardly heard above the raven's call.
Within her hand the crystal pulsed and started to get warm.
The clouds returned and the rain of a thunderstorm.
Tossed about by galling winds over cliff is ware she fell.
Decending she recalled what the legend tried to tell.
Make nature do against creation broke the highest law.
A lesson learned though last and late from her deadly fall.
Over countless ages a wounded nature still remains unhealed.
For even to this day comes calling ravens to the farmers fields.

Mega Man on Virtual Console receives IGN Editor's Choice Award!

    Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 09:20 PM [General]

If you don't know by now, the OG Mega Man game is now available on the Wii's Virtual Console.  Go download it right now, it's full of retro goodness.  But don't take my word for it (do I sound like Reading Rainbow?), go check out this review from IGN.

Also, David Crislip, our talented producer from Japan and the person in charge of our Virtual Console contentm wrote a blog for all you Mega Man and Wii fans:

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read my very first blog post! My name is David Crislip, and I work as an Assistant Producer here in Capcom's online division in Tokyo. If you played Dead Rising, my last name might look familiar. I got my start here in Capcom's localization team in Osaka where I translated game text for DR and quite a few other titles. In Tokyo, I help Ono-san out with Street Fighter IV as well as heading up Virtual Console title producer duties. I was flattered to have been entrusted with this job as it requires no real bilingualism, but instead relies on my "talents" as an obsessive classic game collector and enthusiast. How many people do you know, after all, who own both a working SuperGrafx and a Bandai Playdia? If you are remotely normal, your answer is "none". If you are really normal, you're scratching your head right now wondering what the heck a SuperGrafx is.

Anyway, now that I have the formalities out of the way, I wanted to take a moment to invite you all to relive our childhood memories and get reacquainted with one of Capcom's most popular and enduring heroes. I am proud to announce that the Blue Bomber is back and ready for action in the original adventure that started it all. Mega Man is now available for the Virtual Console! What better way to whet your appetite for the shiny newness that is Mega Man 9 than with a trip down memory lane by reliving Mega Man's original adventure?

At this point, I guess I owe you a confession of sorts. I was more of a Commodore 64 / SMS kid in those days and did not actually own an NES until a decade or so after it ruled the gaming landscape. Therefore, I was never privy to the Mega Man series when it was still new and fresh. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it when I finally gave it a chance 10 years later. The best thing about well-crafted classic games is that, while the graphics and sound may seem dated by today's standards (which is not to say that this does not hold a certain charm for diehard enthusiasts), the gameplay isn't as different from modern games as you may think. In fact, I am consistently shocked and amazed as I dig through my back catalog of old games (I love living a half hour from Akihabara!) and realize that there are very few things (aside from certain conveniences like frequent save points, online play, etc.) new games offer that classic games didn't already have in spades. Mega Man is the perfect example. From pitch-perfect controls to varied enemy types, from a complex weapon system to the ability to tackle stages in any order you wish, Mega Man was ahead of its time in many ways.

Whether you grew up with Mega Man and want to revisit an old friend, or whether you are giving the Blue Bomber a chance for the very first time, you really can't go wrong giving the original title a try. Ever brag to friends about finishing the Gamecube version of RE with the knife? Did you think that speed runs of DMC in Dante Must Die mode was the pinnacle of your gaming career? If so, Mega Man has a surprise for you. If you have the nerves of steel, the patience, and the fortitude to breeze through this game, you are truly the hardest of the hardcore.

I'll take my leave now, but be sure to come back again as I continue to give you the inside scoop on Virtual Console!

    - David

    Understanding your relationship

Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 07:13 PM PST [General]

Over the years through all the struggles whether it be financially, someone getting in the way of our relationship, or just simply being upset at eachother for whatever reason; at the end of it all and through the process of it I always know that my life with you is better then not being with you.

We all have ups and downs but if we can't get past the small stuff how do you expect to get through the tuff.

I once told a friend that was having problems with her boyfriend which she broke up with "Unless you see yourself marrying this guy then it's all worth the headache, heartache and any other ache that comes along with it; because being boyfriend and girlfriend is only a prep for the real relationship MARRIAGE, and if you can't get past the prep part how do you think you'll past the test. Marriage does change your relationship but if you can't communicate, or listen then what's the point."

My fiance and I are really young, we have been together since the last semester of High school, he was my dream Prom Date, and trhough all the struggles we've still managed to stay strong; sure we've gotten tired of each other at some point or another but that's just our selfish ways, and we get over it and realize that our lives are not complete without eachother.

Having our daughter has just made that much more special.

Letter to the Fans from Bob Castellini and Walt Jocketty

Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 10:10 PM EST [Reds]

    From the Reds:

    Dear Fans,

Thank you for your loyalty and support of the Cincinnati Reds. You are extremely vital to the success of the Reds, and it is important we share with you the thinking behind our recent personnel decisions.

Since taking ownership of this franchise, we have aggressively tried to improve our Major League roster for the purpose of restoring championship baseball to Cincinnati. We have sought and signed proven players. We have extended the contracts of select current players. We added Dusty Baker, a proven winning manager. And, we have capitalized on our burgeoning younger players like Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Johnny Cueto.

We had high expectations for the 2008 season. Unfortunately the team has not played up to our expectations and we have sustained injuries to key players within our starting lineup and rotation.

We opted to trade Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn at this time because we believe it provided the best outcome for the long-term success of the organization. By executing these inevitable changes now, we secured more players as part of our focus towards building a deeper, stronger inventory of young talent.

We are pleased that the trades allow Griffey and Dunn the opportunity to play for teams in tight division races. Both Ken and Adam made significant contributions to the Reds and we are extremely proud and grateful they wore the Reds uniform.

While the run production generated by these two veterans will not be quickly replaced, we chose to endure the short-term ramifications for the sake of building a strong, competitive team for 2009 and many seasons to come.

The vast majority of our 50 draft picks were signed, culminating last week with first-rounder Yonder Alonso and a pair of talented pitchers. Our expanded scouting operations also signed Juan Duran from the Dominican Republic and Yorman Rodriguez from Venezuela, who are arguably the best amateur free agent position players from their respective countries.

As we near September, we will continue to provide valuable playing time to our young players and new acquisitions who we feel can become significant contributors at the Major League level. We ask your continued trust and patience as we build the roster that will get us back on top. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at the ballpark.

Doesn't the rules to this match sounds familiar?  I remember a few years ago that when the WWE Hardcore Championship was still around, they used the same rules.  The only difference was it was a whole bunch of superstars, also the time limit varied from time to time.

    Americans need to learn

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 03:03 AM GMT [Current Affairs]

Musharaf's parting brag for one hour, ill founded and uncalled, for must have made  every conscientious-minded person, understand that he is a self-centered, over egoistic and greedy despotic character who can eat his words shamelessly, repeatedly, can make quick about turns against his proclaimed bravado of being commando, for his ulterior objectives and petty gains.

It's a pity that Bush who himself is a product of kick of circumstance and Machiavellian tactics of his sycophants, otherwise bereft of political insight and analytical evaluation, got easily hoodwinked by this Machiavellian character and gave him over $ 5billions of American exchequer over five years without proper accounting procedures. Now Senate and Congress subcommittees are cudgeling their brains to find out the rationale of huge funds. Americans will soon learn that paranoia, created by Musharaf was ill founded and democratic set-up is much better geared to tackle extremism than the despot, himself haunted by insecurity. Furthermore relationship with Pakistani can be much more fruitful in fighting terrorism than a despot. Likewise nukes stay safer in the hand of democratic leadership and professional forces. At the end no stooge can withstand the upsurge of people's movement, spearheaded by legal fraternity and backed by civic bodies.

pick us because we're NOT perfect

Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 07:03 PM PST [General]

KIIS fm is looking for the perfect couple...

Well we're defanitely not perfect, which is exactly why you should pick us! The perfect couple never disagrees, looks like Ken & Barbie, never has to want anything, and eats dinner at lavish restaurants that require 4 month reservations.

    And then there's us....

Yes, we do disagree on some things. I was kinda worried about writing that after seeing all these pages about people that swear they're perfect and never ever ever disagree. We both have our own ways of seeing things and our own opinions. We may bump heads on occassion but in the long run, we can both accept the others point of view. Disagreement is normal. I think it kind of gives you another way of seeing stuff.

NO (incase you haven't checked out some of our pics) we don't look like Ken & Barbie. We're goofy. We'd rather spend time having fun camping and stuff than worrying about staying pretty and put together.

Yes we do WANT stuff.  If we got everything we ever wanted, we probably wouldn't appreciate all the little stuff. We both have dreams and probably want things that are waaaaay out of reach... and that's ok.  Wanting stuff gives you motivation.

No, we don't eat at fancy schmancy restaurants. There's a little restaurant we found by our new house and they have the best french fries. During our move we had to take our stuff to a laundry mat before our washer was hooked up. Aldo took me to have pupusas (I think that's how you spell it) for the first time. I would way rather spend a friday night at the laundry mat and eating dinner out of some hole in the wall place with him, than at a restaurant where I'm not sure which fork to use and how to pronounce the stuff on the menu.
